Community Safety Map

By transforming community‑submitted location reports into an open safety map, we help neighbors move confidently through public spaces — and, just as importantly, give charities, outreach teams, and social‑service agencies a clear view of where medical aid, food, and care are needed most.

How It Works

  1. Start the Telegram bot.
Tap our beggars.info bot link to begin.
  2. Describe what you see.
In your own words, tell the bot the kind of begging you’re witnessing (e.g. “selling tissues”, “aggressive panhandling”).
  3. Share your location while you’re near the person.
The bot immediately prompts for a live location pin so the report is accurate.
  4. Privacy-first processing.
    • The bot auto-translates your description to English.
    • An LLM classifies the report by beggar type.
    • The raw message is deleted from the database once processed, so the bot “forgets” who sent it.
  5. Moderation & map update.
After human review, a simplified report—location rounded to the nearest 100 m square and labelled with the AI scam type—appears on the public map.

Privacy Policy

1. What data we collect

  • Report text. Free-form words you send to the Telegram bot.
  • Instant location pin. A single GPS fix sent from your device at the time of reporting.
  • reCAPTCHA tokens. Anonymised risk-analysis tokens issued by Google to protect the service against abuse.
  • Diagnostic logs. Non-personal server-side error traces.
  • 2. How we use your data

  • The bot auto-translates your description to English and classifies the report with a large-language model (LLM).
  • Human moderators review a simplified report for accuracy and policy compliance.
  • The public map receives only a aggregated simplified record: location rounded to the nearest 100 metres, scam type label, and a generic title.
  • Raw text, precise coordinates, and the reporter’s Telegram ID are deleted permanently after all data are collected and a simplified report moved to moderation.
  • 3. Retention & deletion

  • Raw reports live in volatile storage for no longer than you sending report.
  • Simplified map points are retained for up to 30 days, then aggregated for statistical trends.
  • 4. Legal basis

  • We rely on our legitimate interest in promoting community safety and enabling timely social-service assistance. All data is processed strictly for that purpose, using the smallest amount of information necessary and erased as soon as its purpose is fulfilled.
  • 5. Third-party services

  • Google Maps & reCAPTCHA v3. Both are loaded from Google servers and may place cookies or log usage in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • OpenAI LLM. Text you submit is transiently processed by OpenAI for classification; no personal identifiers are retained.
